Parents who are on campus should follow the teachers and administrators' directions during an emergency. Our school has a comprehensive safety plan and it is important for all adults and students to follow procedures.
Yes, we conduct monthly safety drills (lock downs and fire/earthquake drills). We also have a school safety committee that meets monthly to review and improve our school's safety procedures. Furthermore, our school communicates with our district office and the local authorities during emergencies.
School staff is trained for different types of emergencies. The staff will take attendance and verify all students and adults are safe.
Our school will send out emergency phone calls and emails in the event of an emergency. Additionally, the SMUSD district office would be notified immediately and would assist in communicating with families.
Parents will be notified of the safest location to pick up their students, locations include our school, San Elijo Middle School and San Elijo Park on Schoolhouse Way.
